How to Remove the Background From a Logo

Turn a flat logo image into a transparent PNG you can drop onto any colour without a white box behind it.

4 min read

Logos supplied as JPEGs always carry a white box. Removing it makes the mark usable on dark headers, merchandise mockups and video overlays.

Start from the largest version you have

Logos are line art, so any softness in the source shows badly once it is enlarged.

Cut and clean

After the automatic cutout, use the erase brush to remove any leftover fringe inside counters — the enclosed spaces in letters like O and A.

Sharpen the edges

Line art wants crisp edges. Push the sharpen slider and pull feather down to zero.

Export as PNG

Always PNG. JPEG will reintroduce the white box.
