How to Use the Brush Tool
Size, hardness and opacity explained, plus how to paint accurately on a phone.
- 1
Pick restore or erase
Restore paints the original image back in. Erase removes what is there.
- 2
Set the size
Use a large brush for broad areas and a small one for edges. The circle on the canvas shows the real size.
- 3
Set the hardness
High hardness gives a crisp edge; low hardness feathers the stroke into its surroundings.
- 4
Set the opacity
Around hair, lower the opacity and build the correction up over several light strokes.
Tips
- Zoom in before fine work — the brush maps to the zoomed view.
- Pan with the hand tool between strokes.
